The master planning for this project involved a 20 acre site adjacent to Vanderbilt University’s Legends Country Club that will host 500,000 square feet of of high-tech medical tenants, including a 80,000 square foot proton beam accelerator cancer treatment facility. The Vanderbilt University campus is located just southwest of downtown Nashville, Tennessee.
The site design includes a 900 car underground parking facility, as well as 25,000 square feet of support retail services such as food, day care, banking, dry cleaning, and auto service facilities.
The conceptual design is conceived as an urban block rather than a typical suburban office park. Buildings are outwardly focused on a streetscape that includes curbside angled parking. There are four courtyards that are envisioned for outdoor conference space, lunch and meditation areas. The adjacencies of the buildings and the outdoor spaces are meant to encourage pedestrian activity and promote a “walkable office campus”.
The buildings are configured to take advantage of natural daylight through the majority of the work day, and utilize natural ventilation to reduce energy consumption and increase the quality of the work environment.
