Scott Davis, Esq., is general counsel for ms consultants and will have been in this role for ten years this August. He advises the company on all legal, risk, and risk management issues, including reviewing and negotiating contracts and representing the company in the dispute resolution process. Scott is both a civil engineer and an attorney. He started as an estimator at Messer Construction in Cincinnati before attending law school and practicing construction law at a regional law firm in Columbus.

What was your first job?

Network Video in Warrensville Heights, Ohio. My dad owned the video store, so I was forced into hard labor at an early age. This made me very familiar with child labor laws!

What is one item on your bucket list?

Play (and stay) at Augusta National Golf Club.

Favorite ice cream flavor?

Chocolate chip cookie dough, but I love them all. It’s like picking your favorite child!

Hilton Head, South Carolina

What’s your hidden talent?

I played the flute through elementary and middle school.

Favorite TV show?

Currently, it’s “Young Rock,” but my all-time favorite is “A Different World,” which is a Cosby Show spinoff. I always knew I wanted to go to college, but after watching that show for six seasons, I KNEW I was going to college!

What sets ms apart from other engineering & architecture firms?

Culture and size. We are big enough to have diverse practices and geographic footprint but small enough that you can conceivably get to know everyone in the firm.

What is the most surprising thing you’ve learned while working at ms? 

That cleverness, wit, and resourcefulness can take you a long way.

What would you go back and tell your 22-year-old self?

Save more and eat less.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Most people already know this about me, but I love golfing!
