ms Q+A: Alicia Reno

Maggie Kearns Francis

June 12, 2018

Need a book, coffee, or local Pittsburgh must-see recommendation? Alicia is the ms employee you need to see! We asked Alicia to tell us more about her life outside of ms.

Alicia in 100 Words or Less

I am a CAD Technician on the Water Resources team. This past January marked my first year at ms! After studying architecture at Pittsburgh Technical College, I dedicated my career interest to civil engineering. I appreciate and value working on designs that are both underground and above ground! I’ve also recently took an interest in MEP design. In my free time, I work on my dollhouse design for my six month old daughter. Most of the time, you can find me with a warm coffee in one hand and a good book in the other.

Tell us More

What is the most surprising thing you’ve learned while working at ms?

The most surprising thing that I’ve learned at ms would be how large the projects are. I’m fascinated by how all of the departments work together to get a final design submission. With multiple offices in five states, we all work together as one large team.

What were your favorite hobbies as a child? Did they mimic what you do today?
I was a gamer growing up and still play video games to this day. Yes, my games helped my creativity flow. My favorite games included designs of theme parks, houses, or cities! (Thanks, Sims)

You’ve got one day in Pittsburgh. What do you do?
Anything that involves being on a boat! It doesn’t matter what time of the day it is, you would always find me on a boat. Being on one of the rivers in Pittsburgh gives you a brand new perspective of the city and is a must see! I do have to say, I try to make it to as many Pirate games as possible! Go BUCS!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

My absolute favorite thing to do in my free time is reading to my daughter. When I find myself alone, I’m probably lost in a good novel. But I will admit, Wednesday nights are totally dedicated to roller skating.
