ms is honored to receive the 2014 Community Engagement Award for Family Businesses for its contributions to the Central Ohio Diabetes Association.
“It’s extremely important to recognize the accomplishments of Central Ohio’s family businesses,” said Dick Emens, executive director of the Conway Center for Family Business. “They’re the foundation of our community and a key contributor to a healthy and vibrant Central Ohio economy. We’re fortunate to have many great family-owned businesses in the Central Ohio region – we estimate at least 6,000 – and our 160+ members employ over 17,000 hard-working people in Central Ohio.”
ms has been involved with the Central Ohio Diabetes Association for over 15 years. This has included participating in their office expansion in the Short North, Swing for Diabetes, Camp Hamwi sponsorship, and Celebrities for Diabetes. Thomas E. Mosure, President and CEO, also has a personal commitment to the Central Ohio Diabetes Association, serving as an active board member since 1998. As a Type 1 Diabetic, he understands the importance of support and education.
Recently, ms added a charitable component to its annual pedometer contest. The Step Up for Diabetes Pedometer Contest challenged employees and their spouses to a 58 million company-wide step goal. Upon meeting this goal, ms donated $10,000 to various diabetes organizations local to each office with the Central Ohio Diabetes Association being the selected organization in the Columbus region.
