Maggie Kearns Francis

March 7, 2018

In search of a City of Columbus bike trail tour? Mary Kate has you covered. She can even weigh in on where you should head after your adventure for the best food! We asked Mary Kate to tell us more about her life outside of ms.

YOU IN 100 WORDS OR LESS

I moved to Columbus three and a half years ago when I finished school with a degree in medical billing and coding. I have been with ms for two and a half years, I started as the receptionist, and recently moved to the technical secretary position within Columbus Transportation. I met my husband playing on the ms softball team and we married in June. We have a three-year-old golden retriever, Hank, who I absolutely adore. I love ice cream, donuts, sunshine and whales.

TELL US MORE

What is the most surprising thing you’ve learned while working at ms?
That ms is involved in projects that impact my everyday life.

What inspires you, inside or outside of work?
I go to a CrossFit gym where I continuously surprise myself by doing things I didn’t think I could do. It inspires me to push myself beyond what I think I’m capable of and makes me want to work harder.

You’ve got one day in Columbus. What do you do?
Go for a bike ride on the trails and grab some good food, probably Hot Chicken Takeover, then enjoy the night on a patio in Grandview or Short North with some friends.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I like going to the pool to lay out and read a good book. I enjoy working out and being active (hiking or biking trails around the city), or just being lazy on the couch snuggling with my dog and watching T.V.

What’s your favorite way to give back to the community?
After giving blood for the first time at the ms blood drive, I have donated blood several times. Last year I raised money for Barbells for Boobs which supports the early detection of breast cancer.

Any final words?
Believeland!
