Located in the Borough of Bellevue, in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, Jacks Run Bridge carries vehicles and pedestrians over a deep ravine that cuts through the neighborhood.

This project involved the rehabilitation of an open spandrel concrete deck arch, built in 1926. At a total length of 590 feet, the deck arch includes 14 approach spans, 15 feet to 20 feet long, and a 320-foot-long main span. Jacks Run Bridge accommodates vehicle traffic with a two-lane roadway with 7-foot shoulders and two sidewalks for pedestrians.

The bridge rehabilitation included replacement of:

• Expansion dams
• Six concrete floorbeams
• Four concrete columns
• Drainage system
• Bearings

Galvanic anode corrosion protection was also used to prevent corrosion of the bridge’s submerged metal components.

The bridge rehabilitation also included the installation of decorative bridge lighting for approximately 200 feet on both sides of the bridge.

During construction, the bridge was closed to vehicles but pedestrian traffic was maintained at all times to maintain neighborhood connectivity
