Once again, ms employees and their spouses took advantage of the summer weather to get outside, get stepping, and make a difference! This year our goal was higher than ever and yet again, the staff rallied to achieve it.
The 2016 goal was to step up for diabetes by walking 97,000,000 steps over the 8 week challenge period. Over 180 members of our staff stepped up to participate in the challenge and the results reflected their dedication! ms employees blew the goal away by walking over 100,000,000 steps! All those steps equal over 47,000 miles. That’s enough steps to walk from Washington DC to San Francisco 17 times!
Rewarded for Excellent Stepping
In recent years, ms has added a charitable incentive to its pedometer challenge. This year’s incentive was a $10,000 donation to regional diabetes associations, local to each ms office location. Each year 1.4 million Americans are diagnosed with diabetes and millions still go undiagnosed. Raising awareness and funds for the American Diabetes Association kept our motivation up throughout the entire challenge. ms employees achieved their goal and even went beyond it! Our Raleigh office was awarded an extra $500 donation for maintaining the highest average daily step total throughout the competition!
