This year, Engineers Week is February 20 to 26. DiscoverE designates one week every year to highlight engineers and everything they have their hands in. For 2022, the Engineers Week theme is “Reimagining the Possible.” This thought-provoking theme gives way to forward-thinking and instigating discussions on all the different types of projects that involve engineering to some degree. So, what do engineers do?
WHAT ENGINEERS DO
What do [ms] engineers do? It turns out, ms engineers do A TON of exciting work that involves engineering! Here are some featured projects that engineers in each have created, designed, and completed.
AKRON/CLEVELAND
Some of the work from the five engineers in the ms Akron and Cleveland offices include:
- State Route 8 Bridge Replacement
- Upper Tuscarawas Water Reclamation Facility Replacement Project
- Pittsburgh Avenue, Shuffel Street, and Orion Street Roundabouts Design
- Hazel Storage Basin
COLUMBUS
The 40 engineers out of the Columbus office completed the following projects, just to name a few:
INDIANAPOLIS
Some work from the four engineers in the Indianapolis office include:
- Whitestown Legacy Core List Station
- Citizens Energy Group 146th Street Booster Pump Station and Tank
PITTSBURGH
29 engineers out of the ms Pittsburgh office worked on these projects and more:
- Southern Beltway/I-79 Interchange
- Mileposts 28-31 Total Reconstruction
- Bayfront Parkway Improvement Project
- 31st Ward Sewer System
- Transforming 12th Avenue Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI)
RALEIGH
Staffed with 10 Engineers, Raleigh recently put out the following projects:
- US-264 Feasibility Study
- North Carolina Department of Transportation Bridge Inspections
- NCHRP Project: 25-57 Breaking Barriers: Alternative Approaches to Avoiding and Reducing Highway Traffic Noise Impacts, completed in collaboration with engineers in multiple offices
YOUNGSTOWN
A handful of projects from the 20 engineers in Youngstown are:
- Fifth Avenue Safety Upgrade and Rehabilitation
- Great Stone Viaduct Trail
