Heidi in 100 Words or Less

It was a dark and stormy night when I emerged from my mother’s womb…ah, just kidding! Let’s try again. Hi, I’m Heidi and I’ve been at ms consultants for over three years as the Technical Administrative Assistant for our Building Systems group in Columbus. I graduated from Wittenberg University with a B.S. in Geology and a minor in Biology. I love the natural sciences and the outdoors, but I also enjoy the “finer” things in life. Some might call me a bit quirky or eccentric, but I like to think I’m just free-spirited.

The Speed Round

What was your first job?
Pharmacy Technician at Walmart

Farthest you’ve traveled from home?
Athens, Greece, this past June

Least favorite food?
Call me crazy, but I dislike most cake and pastries.

If you had your own talk show, who would be your first three guests?
Keith Morrison, David Attenborough, and Liam Neeson

Listener or talker?
Listener

Last thing you read?
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer by Patrick Süskind

Best concert you’ve been to?
A band you’ve never heard of…I’m so hipster! They’re a German band called Diorama, and they never tour in the US. They’re a big reason I decided to go to Greece this year.

If you could trade places with someone for a day, who would it be?
Someone like David Attenborough; trekking through some unknown wilderness in search of rare animal species

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A Disney princess version of Jack Hanna

If you had to pick one meal to eat for the rest of your life, what would you choose?
Chicken tikka masala

Favorite TV show?
Dateline NBC, hence wanting to interview Keith Morrison. Real-life murder mysteries are more spine-chilling than any horror film out there.

If there was a holiday in your honor what would it celebrate?
Existential dread

What household chore do you hate the most?
Purging my wardrobe

Tell Us More

What sets ms apart from other engineering & architecture firms?
The way ms consultants’ invests in its employees is what makes it a cut above the rest. ms pushes us to succeed as individuals so we can in turn be successful as a whole. That’s how we exceed our clients’ expectations.

What is the best career advice you have ever received?
Try new things and don’t be afraid to fail. Otherwise, you may never learn what you’re truly good at.

What would you go back and tell your 22 year old self?
Worry less about what others expect of you, and focus more on discovering what you want to expect of yourself.

You’ve got one day in Columbus. What do you do?
Morning: Get lost at the Book Loft in German Village or the Columbus Zoo
Lunch: Indian buffet at Taj Palace
Afternoon: Work off said lunch playing Japanese rhythm games at Gotcha Gachapon at Akiba Arcade
Dinner: Grass Skirt Tiki Room
Evening: Take in a fabulous symphony, ballet, or opera by one of Columbus’ amazing performing arts associations

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I’m a night owl, and I like nightlife. I love getting lost in the fog, lights, and music of a dancefloor with my friends. It’s a great stress-reliever and Columbus has so many cool alternative dance nights to choose from. I also enjoy costuming, which is a fun creative outlet for me. I’m currently gearing up for my favorite holiday, Halloween! I’m tired of always being second best in the costume contest, so I’m pulling out all the stops this year!

Any final words?
Don’t be a stranger; stop by and say hi sometime!
