Implementation begins for upgrades at six Ohio parks

COLUMBUS, OH – Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District has selected ms consultants, inc. as the Program Management Consultants for its Park Master Plan Implementation. ms will work in conjunction with MWCD staff on more than 300 capital projects totaling over $160 million, taking these projects from concept to construction.

Projects to be completed include new and/or redeveloped modernized accommodations, cabin neighborhoods, alternative campaign opportunities, marina improvements, and the addition of amenities, such as trails, rope courses, rock climbing, and more. All parks will also have utility and infrastructure upgrades to support operations, including Wi-Fi internet access. All upgrades will solidify themes unique to each park, from a quiet fishing retreat to a water sports destination.

Extensive upgrades will be made at Atwood Lake Park, Charles Mill Lake, Piedmont Lake Marina and Campground, Pleasant Hill Lake Park, Seneca Lake Park and Marina, and Tappan Lake Park. ms will implement the construction of the projects over the course of the next several years, all while maintaining park operations during the summer camping and boating seasons.

About Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District

The MWCD, a political subdivision of the state, was organized in 1933 to develop and implement a plan to reduce flooding and conserve water for beneficial public uses in the Muskingum River Watershed, the largest wholly contained watershed in Ohio covering 8,000 square miles. The District’s 16 reservoirs and dams have been credited for saving an estimated $10.7 billion worth of potential property damage from flooding, according to the federal government. In addition, over 3.6 million customers a year use the District’s recreational facilities throughout Eastern Ohio which bolsters the region’s economy and augments the quality of life for Ohio’s residents.
