As ms consultants’ Information Technology Developer, Mr. Farhoud has provided his expertise at ms consultants, inc. since 2004. IT was a natural fit for him; even as a child he was fascinated by the usefulness of computers and his ability to program them and have them perform anything he asked. He even tried to make computer games his brothers preferred to play over then-popular Nintendo games. “I was never successful in beating the quality of a Nintendo game, but I learned a lot about the machine along the way.”

Not surprisingly, Mr. Farhoud sees the biggest trend in computing is technology getting smaller and smaller and connecting to the cloud rather than an expansive hard drive. “We are using this technology in the field by having our people use tablet PCs to fill out forms instead of wasting paper.”  His most recent project was ms’ new company intranet, that project took more than two years and had lots of stakeholders involved. It was challenging to satisfy everyone’s needs while making the intranet extremely easy to use. One of the project’s unique issues was structuring the information so everything was easy to find. “We ended up designing an internal search engine similar to Microsoft Bing, which made it easy to find information through a simple search instead of trying to figure out where the information should be filed.”

Mr. Farhoud’s greatest challenge is to make the human-computer experience a joyful one, even during an inevitable crash in the middle of a big proposal or drafting project. “My answer to most people’s computer problems is to tell them to reboot. It’s funny, but it really does fix almost all problems.”
