Carolina Crossroads Traffic Impact Analysis

ms consultants served as the lead engineer for utility design, site development and roadway system design for a Traffic Impact Analysis for the Carolina Crossroads music and entertainment development. The development is located near Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina located near the intersection of Interstate 95 and NC Highway 125.

ms prepared the initial Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA) for the Phase I development to verify the adequacy of the proposed entrance to the entertainment district and identify impacts to the surrounding roadway network.

Phase I included 123 acres of the proposed 750-acre development.

NC Highway 125 was studied from Three Bridges Road to the development entrance and involved a total of four intersections. ms evaluated the need for roadway widening at the intersections on NC 125 and adequacy of the available space between the northbound ramps and the Entertainment Entrance.

ms investigated the need for signalization at NC 125 and the northbound and southbound ramps and at NC 125 and the entertainment district entrance. Also, the impact of the development traffic on the merge and diverge points on I-95 were investigated. Mitigative improvements were identified including the number and uses of additional lanes required by the development’s traffic. The adequacy of two on-site intersections, one of which was a proposed roundabout, was also studied.
