Over 30 percent of America’s total energy usage, 60 percent of our electricity and financial resources, and 35 percent of the contents of our landfills are linked to
buildings. In addition, 80 percent of the average American’s time is spent inside.

Enhancing the energy efficiency and livability
of buildings through better design can save money, clean up the environment, and
improve the quality of life for us and, more importantly, for our grandchildren and the generations thereafter.

A number of ms professionals are LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professionals, and have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and familiarity with LEED requirements,
resources, and processes.

Sustainability refers to the ability of a society, ecosystem or other ongoing system to continue functioning into the indefinite future without being forced to decline through exhaustion or overloading of the key resources on which that system depends. Specifically, sustainable design is the synthesis of energy efficiency and a concern for the environments we create.

Through the sustainable design process, ms consultants strives to make appropriate use of land; use water, energy and materials efficiently; enhance human health; create buildings that are economical to operate; and promote recycling.
