Visits to my father's engineering firm began at a young age. I remember meeting the technical staff and listening with fascination to their challenges and solutions. When I began working as a young surveyor and eventual engineering student, I joined as an eager apprentice to their knowledge and experience. Many of those individuals who took the time to patiently explain a calculation or consider my own suggestions are still active participants of the company four decades later. They are the heart of professional excellence and mentoring that transfigured ms consultants from a civil engineering and planning firm to a multi-discipline organization with multiple offices and a diverse range of services.

 

ms consultants' emergence and growth follows a blueprint that was drawn by the talents and strengths of our quality technical managers. The ms project team approach allows us to combine the technical expertise from our various service sectors choreographed through a project manager to generate comprehensive projects for our clients. We are, in essence, a brain trust working with daily collaboration, sharing resources and creativity. This evolution does not just happen - it is manifested through the years of working together and communicating. Transportation and bridge engineers become sensitized via information gathered by biologists, geologists and environmentalists for a major transportation improvement. An environmental engineer may provide water or sanitary lines for a large site development or a municipality in whole, while a traffic engineer may signal for entry to a development or develop the thoroughfare plan for a county. Service is our primary focus, but we know that this process is an ongoing continuum of change and therefore we grow and direct our efforts toward our client mix and advancing technology. Foreseeing some of the challenges we will face allows us to develop programs and systems that will prepare and enable us to address these changes. E-mail capability to each of our service sections is a given, but our communication ability extends to also include the electronic transfer of technical drawings and data. Proper mentoring, training, and implementation of the latest technology allows us to stay in step with the progress in our field. The global marketplace is already a daily consideration in our development of resources.
