The reviews are in and it's official - people love "The LEGO® Movie". The movie has obviously struck a chord with kids, but also with adults who grew up playing with LEGO® when they were kids.

So we'd thought we'd join in on the fun by trying to build our company logo out of the colorful little bricks. Since our company is full of engineers and architects who like to design and build things, many of us spent hours as kids playing with LEGO® ... or we now spend time with our own kids playing with them. (And, OK, maybe some of us still play with them even after our kids have grown up.)

Coincidentally, February happens to be the month when National Engineers Week is observed in the United States. National Engineers Week is used to call attention to the contributions to society that engineers make, and for the engineering profession to emphasize the importance of learning math, science, and technical skills. In 2014, the week is observed February 16-22.

As for building our logo, the biggest trick would be trying to create the odd triangle shapes out of square or rectangular plastic pieces. We'd also have to track down the correct colors, or at least some colors close enough to match.

So after a quick trip to the local LEGO® store here in Columbus (yes, we're actually lucky enough to have a store completely devoted to the brightly colored little building blocks), we brought three buckets of bricks back to the office and gave it a shot. And we were able to find colors that are VERY close to our corporate color scheme - brown, olive green and dark green. (We thank someone over in the Denmark headquarters color department for that!) One of us also had some small white pieces from one of our kid's sets at home - just enough to spell out the "ms".

The results aren't bad, in our humble opinion ... judge for yourselves from the photo. It took us about an hour-and-a-half to work out the layout and shapes. We probably should have counted the bricks as we went, but we didn't ... and we're not going to tear the thing apart to start over. But it was hundreds of pieces - trust us.
