Agriculture and Family Education Center

ms consultants was retained by Trumbull County, Ohio, to supply complete architectural programming and design for this 9,535-square-foot building to house administrative office and meeting space. The facility was built to be a one stop location for those in the agriculture industry and to house a large meeting/training room for family educational programming.

Federal, state and local agencies are located at the center, including the Farm Service Agency, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the Natural Resource Conservation Service, the Ohio State University Trumbull County Extension, and the Trumbull Soil & Water Conservation District. The project required coordination with many of these agencies.

The building design utilizes traditional agricultural features including exposed framing, large roof overhangs, a cupola and rustic details.

ms also provided site civil, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and construction administration for the project.

The 17-acre site for the building was donated by The Delphi Packard Company and developed by the Trumbull County Commissioners as a place to educate residents about its natural habitat, and serve as a location to feature programs and events that highlight agriculture, gardening, recreation, environmental or outdoor education.
