Want to hear more about the John R. Doutt Upground Reservoir? Join us at the 43rd Annual WMAO Conference!

The Water Management Association of Ohio (WMAO), an organization dedicated to all of Ohio’s water resources, will be holding their annual conference on November 18 – 19 in Columbus, Ohio. The theme for 2014 is, “Valuing Water: Exploring the interactions between people, markets, and water.”

Three sessions at the conference will feature our recent record-setting project with the City of Columbus and Del-Co Water Company, John R. Doutt Upground Reservoir. Not only is this reservoir the largest geomembrane-lined reservoir in the nation, but an innovative inflatable dam technique led to substaintial energy savings! Join ms Columbus employees Ken Ricker, PE, and Anil Tangirala, PE, CFM, for the following sessions to hear more:

  • Integrating the City of Columbus Upground Reservoirs into the Scioto River Water Resource System: Record-Setting John R. Doutt Reservoir Adds Source on Tuesday, November 18 at 10:00 a.m. This session will describe how the reservoir has become an integral component of the Scioto River Water System and provide guidelines on how this integration came to life.

  • Integrating the City of Columbus Upground Reservoirs into the Scioto River Water Resource System: Removal of Low Head Dam and Installation of Pneumatic Weir Gate System on Wednesday, November 19 at 8:30 a.m. The second session will feature the installation of the pneumatic weir gate system in lieu of a permanent low head intake impoundment, allowing unobstructed river flow and fish migration when not in use.

  • Integrating the City of Columbus Upground Reservoirs into the Scioto River Water Resource System: Multi-Faceted Stakeholder Interactions on Wednesday, November 19 at 9:00 a.m. The final session on the upground reservoir project will feature the collaborative efforts of the various regulators and local communities and stakeholders, and how these collaborations led to a successful project from start to finish.
